Road Closure: Patricia Street and Willow Avenue Intersection

Construction crew digging a hole

The Patricia Street and Willow Avenue intersection is expected to be closed from July 16 to August 1 for roadway and underground repairs. The streets within one block of the work area will be designated for local traffic only. Detours will be in place.

Bring your own bag, Jasper!

A plastic checkout bag ban begins July 1. The ban means that all Jasper businesses are urged to stop providing plastic checkout bags, which are usually provided at the till. However, retailers are allowed to use up their existing stock of plastic bags.

Council Approves Arena Ice Plant Upgrades, Supports Utility Fees for 2019

On December 18, Council approved the relocation and replacement of the ice plant and condenser for the Jasper Arena at an estimated project budget of $3.7 million. Council also supported, in principle, a 6.8% increase in utility fees.

Council Passes Cannabis Consumption Bylaw

At its October 2 regular meeting, Jasper municipal Council passed a Cannabis Consumption Bylaw prohibiting the smoking and vaping of recreational cannabis in all places or buildings that are open to the public within the town site.

Council Supports Free Youth and Teen Access to Recreation Facilities

Starting October 1, youth and teens in grades seven to 12 will be eligible for free access to the Aquatic Centre, Fitness Centre and bouldering wall.
