Community Supports

This is new territory for all of us. Every Jasper resident has experienced loss, and each person’s healing process is unique. Be kind to yourself and others as we navigate this difficult time together. Healing takes time, so allow yourself space to grieve.

For those still away from home, we can imagine how stressful this uncertainty is. Our hearts are with you. Support is available, and no one has to face this alone. Please see the list of resources below.

Community Outreach & Settlement Services

Community Outreach Services (COS) offers support, services and resources for all ages in Jasper. Outreach Workers are here to help those in need of assistance and who are struggling with issues that affect their quality of life with resources and referrals. 

NEW: Recovery Outreach Workers are here to help all Jasperites access disaster recovery financial assistance as well as resources and supports specific to the Jasper Complex Wildfire that hit town in July 2024. 

Settlement Services (SS) in Jasper is a free service available to eligible newcomers to Jasper to help with accessing a variety of services and community resources.

Both COS and SS are open M-F from 10 AM to 3 PM. To book an appointment, email community@jasper-alberta.ca, or call (780)852-2100. Their office is located at 627 Patricia Street. 

Government of Alberta

Alberta Supports is available also between 7:30 am to 8 pm (open Monday to Friday, closed statutory holidays toll-free at 1-877-644-9992. The Government of Alberta has also created a list of supports for individuals impacted by wildfires in Alberta.

Alberta Health Services

Wood Buffalo Addiction and Mental Health Services is hosting 2 week Virtual Addiction Day Treatment Programs and are accepting applications for the December 9 to December 20 session. Check the poster for additional dates into 2025.

Jasper Employment and Education Centre 

The Jasper Employment and Education Centre (JEEC) is a community-based organization that provides a range of employment services and a variety of learning opportunities.

The JEEC is also available to help Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) with work permits through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program or the International Mobility Program. JEEC’s goal is to support TFWs in succeeding in the community, learning important life skills, and reaching their full potential. 

They also run a local job board to connect people with local work opportunities. 

The JEEC welcomes walk-in appointments at their office at 631 Patricia Street. You can contact them at (780)852-4418.

Jasper Food Security

Jasper Food Bank provides food to residents in times of need. It is located in the Jasper Legion (401 Geikie Street) and is open every Thursday from 5:30-6:30pm. You can find out more information on their Facebook page. 

Jasper Food Recovery is an entirely volunteer-driven project whose goal it is to keep good food from going to landfill. They are currently operating the community fridges located in the Activity Centre lobby. These fridges are accessible from 8:00am to 10:00pm every day and are filled with food on a regular basis. Check out their Facebook page for current opening hours and volunteer opportunities. 

Glenda’s Soup for You program brings you a fresh, hot pot of soup every day. Stop by the Activity Centre arena lobby for a free bowl of soup while it lasts.  

Jasper Donation Centre

There is currently one donation centre operating in Jasper. Many of these items were have been generously donated by our neighbouring communities during and after the 2024 Wildfire Complex. 

The Jasper Helping Hands Donation Centre is operating out of Jasper Park Baptist Church (300 Patricia Street). Check out their Facebook page for information on hours of operations and volunteer opportunities.

Mental Health Resources

Alberta Health Services has resources and services available to help you and your loved ones with health care needs in this stressful and difficult time.

Individuals seeking in-person support can access local mental health and addiction resources through the following locations in Jasper:

  • Re-entry Support Centre, Seniors Centre
    • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week (while the support centre is operational).
  • Seton-Jasper Healthcare Centre, 518 Robson St.
    • Mental Health and Addiction Community Clinic
      • Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
      • Call 780-852-6616 for more information.
    • Mental health and addiction staff are available in the Emergency Department seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • If in crisis, help is available at the emergency department or by calling 911.

Canadian Red Cross

The Canadian Red Cross continues to work closely with provincial and municipal governments and Indigenous leadership to support individuals, families and communities impacted by the 2024 Wildfires. The Red Cross is actively committed to wildfire recovery and building community resilience with our support and granting programs for individuals, households, small businesses and not-for-profits. 

To assist with accessing information and services as well as referrals to available resources, the Canadian Red Cross Case Management team will be available in person at:
