The list of addresses are preliminary gathered by the municipality that are affected. If your questions is not answered here we can get back to you at wildfireinfo@jasper-alberta.ca

What does this map and list show?

     Showing by colour:

  •      Green - no visible damage
  •      Yellow - visible damage
  •      Red - destroyed

Why are we releasing this information?

With evacuees located across multiple communities, staying at centres or with friends and family. We are challenged with the ability to communicate during an evacuation, and this is the most efficient way to reach as many Jasperites as possible. Updates will continue to be provided on the Municipality of Jasper’s website and Facebook page.

How accurate is this information?

The information shared today is based on the damage that is visible from the street. We have not been inside buildings or seen the backside of properties. There may be additional damage to homes and businesses that isn’t visible from the street. Buildings marked as “not damaged” on the map could also have internal damage caused by smoke and water. There may be further damage from weather, downed trees or other factors.

If my home is only indicated as damage, how can I determine the extent?

This is only a preliminary street/drive by view. We understand you want to know more. We are not able to provide internal damage assessment information. This will have to wait until re-entry is established for residents.

I’m a renter, a tenant, what do I do?

If you have tenants insurance, reach out to your insurance company as well. If you don’t have tenants insurance, you can apply for the Government of Alberta evacuation funding here  https://evacuationpayment.alberta.ca/ .

Can residents tour the damage?

At this time, it is not possible for residents to return to Jasper to view their property or collect belongings. The town site is not safe. The chemicals released by structural fire are a serious health risk. There is still an active wildfire on the perimeter of the town. Firefighters and first responders need space to do their job safely. This remains an evolving emergency situation.

What do I do with this information?

It is important to reach out to your insurance companies as soon as you can as a heads up for early action.
